Spark Plugs [10 Dec 2009|05:47pm]

idio_tech
Okay, I drive a 1992 Volvo 740 Stationwagon. I would like to replace the sparkplugs but I don't know how to do it. I've been looking online but I am not really finding anything. So I was wondering how to do it, what are the best spark plugs for my car, and if I should unplug the battery first?

Thank you much!

Hey. Someone in the gearheads community told me my post sounded a little spammy, so here's the deal: My brother just started his own business that launched a website this weekend. Im just trying to help him out get the word around because he has been doing some pretty cool stuff basically making from scratch some projector HID headlight kits for corvettes. He has other corvette products too. Would you guys mind checking out his site and letting me know what you think? thanks! www.corvetteHID.com

Question [04 Jun 2009|01:19am]

Well, I have a '88 Pontiac 6000. Just yesterday i was driving it fine and then stopped at a stop sign. All of the sudden it wasn't going very fast. Now I've had a little issue with it in the past where if I didn't step on the gas it would want to die but that's if I didn't let it heat up for a little bit. And it wanted to die. I pulled off to the side of the road. Every time I started it and didn't press the gas it would die. When I got it going it would take a long time for it to get up to 55mph and if I let off the gas a little it would fall. I'd have a hard time driving it. My friend had me drive it a little. We pulled over and put into park and he had me rev the gas then it started to smoke. He showed me that the catalytic converter was red hot. Now I talked to the closest mechanic and he said it may not be the converter it may be something else. So does anyone know what it could be? I just don't want to be duped by this mechanic and have to pay a lot for something simple. I only chose him because he's the closest to where I live.

WHAT'S THAT SONG??? [06 Jun 2008|12:35am]

movehalfaninch
What the song is that's in the 2009 Nissan Murano commercials that have been playing almost every other hour. It sounds so familiar and like something I would love, but I can't put my finger on what the band is and it's driving me nuts! Help!

Hello!

I have a 2003 ford focus with 85,000 miles it. I've had it for two years and it's been serviced regularly.

On Easter Sunday I went to pick up my friend. While I was waiting for her outside I noticed that my thermostat was raising and it rose to about 3/4 before I shut off the A/C and turned on the heat. Once I started driving again the temperature went back down to normal.

I took the car to my friend, who is a mechanic, a week later and he was unable to find anything wrong with it. He thought it was possibly the thermostat but couldn't replicate the problem. He said that everything looks good, nothing is leaking, the fans are working, and to keep an eye on it.

I haven't noticed any problems with it all week until today. I went to pick my roommate up from the airport and I noticed that when I stopped at a red light the temperature rose slightly. When I pulled up to the house I let it idle for a minute and sure enough the temperature rose all the way to 3/4. Then I decided to drive it around the block, and the temperature went back down to 1/2. As soon as a let it idle again it started rising.

It doesn't do this all the time. It probably won't do it tomorrow, but I'd like to get this fixed ASAP! Is the thermostat going out? Or?

Thanks!

brakes question [17 Apr 2007|10:12pm]

jesusofgujrat
hey there. i have a 2000 saturn. some recent history: on saturday, i had a new muffler strap and new struts all around. i've got ~76,000 miles on it, so that seemed right.

after the repair, everytime i brake at somewhat low speeds (like 30 mph and below), i hear a somewhat loud clicking type of sound coming from the back right wheel area. it gets slower when the car gets slower (i.e. more silence between the clicks). when i'm stopped, it stops. could this be due to something the mechanics did, or perhaps it's something else? any help would be appreciate.

My car has an automatic headlight thing, so when it gets dark the headlights come on automatically. The problem is that it doesn't work in the rain or twilight, and if I pull the knob to turn on the lights myself it just dings non-stop (it also dings every few minutes while driving, but if I hit the steering wheel it stops). If I pull the knob out it dings, hitting the steering wheel doesn't stop it. Here's the question: Where is the sensor that tells if it is dark out? Is there anyway I can put tape over the sensor or something so that it stays on all the time?
